National Museum in Belgrade
National Museum in Belgrade (Serbia) Founded in 1844 in the Republic Square, Belgrade National Museum exhibits over 400,000 objects, including 8400 drawings and prints and 5,600 paintings. There are various areas and departments devoted to disciplines or sectors such as medieval art, archeology and numismatics.
The National Museum of Belgrade is the largest in the nation. It displays art works of figures such as Auguste Renoir, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne and Edgar Degas, among many others.
Among their spare coins, moreover, highlights the collections of coins issued by Alexander the Great and Philip II of Macedonia.
Its main building has been remodeled in recent years on a project involving an investment of 25 million euros. Among the changes, highlighting the installation of a glass dome as a roof to facilitate the entry of sunlight.
