Felix Romuliana, SerbiaOn the outskirts of the city of Gamzigrad see a Roman archaeological site known as Felix Romuliana or simply Romuliana. There was born and buried the emperor Galerius (in fact, the name comes from Romula Romuliana, the mother of Galerius).

The story goes that this military camp was part of the province of Dacia Ripensis created by Aurelian. Felix Romuliana did constitutes an important administrative center since traded the gold was obtained from mines in the area.

Romuliana was inhabited until the sixth century when the Avars attacked and destroyed the city. Since 2007, the site is part of world heritage can still be seen as their main campuses.

Remains of temples, baths and basilicas, a tetrapilo, the columns of the palace built by Galerius, the tombs of the emperor and his mother and various objects from the Roman era can be appreciated by tourists.
